Apex Employee Spotlight: Rochelle Martin
At Apex Facility Resources, we believe that our greatest strength is our people. We are proud of our dedicated team of unique and talented employees, who enact Apex values to deliver the right workspace every day.
One Apex team member is featured in the Smarter Workspace blog each month. Read on to meet Rochelle Martin, Project Coordinator, and learn more about your workspace transition partner.
Rochelle, what is your role at Apex and how long have you been with the company?
I’m one of three Apex project coordinators and I’ve been working at Apex for a year and 6 months!
So, what happens in Project Coordinator (PC) Land?
One of the common misconceptions about project coordination is that we only order office furniture and do data entry for our clients. This is not true. Project Coordinators occupy a unique position at Apex because we touch every aspect of a project. From creating quotes, placing orders and coordinating product shipping dates to managing project documentation and serving as the face of contact for clients as well as manufacturers, we get everyone’s ducks in a row!
We work with the sales team, design department and project managers to understand our clients’ needs. It’s in this step that we determine whether their expectations are realistic. For example, if a client wants to order workstations for an entire floor of an office building in two months, the project coordinator figures out if we can make that happen and how can we streamline that process. Seamless transition — that’s what PC Land is all about.
A client gives you a seemingly impossible request. What do you do?
It depends: Who says it’s an impossible request? One of my roles as a project coordinator is to help the salesperson qualify client expectations. If a client’s dream workspace design and budgetary constraints can’t be satisfied, I collaborate with my manufacturer partners to find solutions that will achieve the look and feel my client needs and fit within their budget.
During my time as a project coordinator, I’ve developed a strong relationship with manufacturer partners. We’re a team. The client is our priority. We’re happy when we successfully create, deliver and install office furniture that our clients will love and enjoy using for years. This is what brings me into work every day. (That, and the great team members I get to work with!)
