Job Title: Furniture Installer/Mover
Department: Operations

 

Performs efficient installation and assembly of office furniture within clients’ facilities, including systems furniture, case goods, accessories, wall-hung units, etc. Is responsible for timely completion of the work with a high level of workmanship and a high degree of customer satisfaction.

  • Knows how to assemble, fine-tune and detail panels, components, case goods, seating, filing, tables,

  • Is capable and efficient in the assembly of furniture, resulting in quality workmanship

  • Is product knowledgeable across most major lines the dealership represents; understands most product specifications and descriptions; can identify basic finishes, colors, and fabrics; knows correct application and assembly for products; knows how to make most mechanical adjustments (drawers, slides)

  • Understands basic electricity and systems furniture electrical component installation

  • Understands and follows through with consistent and accurate paperwork—receiving documentation, detailed timesheets, client sign-offs, punch list items, change orders, product return forms, inventory check-out.

  • Communicates project status, problems, and punch-list in writing to dispatch, sales personnel and sales support, and to project management personnel.

 

Project and Installation Skills
  • Can plan, organize and effectively direct a crew of installers on a project up to 15 stations in size

  • Understands the diversity of different projects and properly prepares for them by:

  • Pursuing project details and drawings

  • Assisting scheduling and manpower loading for the project

  • Work planning for field conditions, technical complexities, and task-to-time efficiencies

  • Can manage crews of up to 4-6 installers

  • Can pre-plan small to medium-sized projects, including field measurements and site reviews

  • Can analyze the project for correct tool, supply, equipment, and vehicle requirements, as well as small parts and product, pulls from the warehouse

  • Can punch and close-out a projects 4-6using proper procedures and forms

  • Comfortable driving a bobtail or cube truck and can do so safely

  • Understands furniture material handling and logistical processes

  • Can receive and document receipt of product in a thorough and accurate manner

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

Math Ability:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises 4-6 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities per the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
