Challenges
After-Hours Delivery Requirement: Installation was completed at 4:00 AM, prior to business hours, to ensure zero disruption to clinic operations.
Project Continuity and Redesign Coordination: Initial lobby layouts and renderings were already in progress when Apex assumed responsibility for the project, requiring a seamless transition and alignment with the existing design direction.
Solutions
Healthcare-Grade Furniture Installation
We installed a curated selection of healthcare-compliant furnishings, including ERG Ozark lounge seating (single and two-seater couches), small lounge seating in two tones, café tables, task chairs, barstools, and side chairs. All upholstery was selected for durability, stain resistance, and bleach-cleanable surfaces to support healthcare sanitation standards.
Furniture selections were coordinated to complement Washington Gastroenterology’s branding, with barstools and side chairs featuring tones aligned to the WashGastro color palette.
A dedicated Tech Room just off the lobby was designed for patient drivers and family members waiting during procedures. Since post-operative patients are unable to drive themselves home, the space offers a comfortable, functional setting to work remotely, take calls, or stay connected while waiting for care to be completed.
Additional seating was incorporated into the staff breakroom to improve comfort and usability.

Results
The updated waiting area successfully achieved the client’s vision of a more residential, living room–inspired environment. The new furnishings significantly improved comfort, durability, and functionality while enhancing both patient experience and staff usability in key areas of the clinic.
